As we storm past the mid-week weigh-in, the contestants continue to achieve fantastic results. Mikey injects a new full-workout compound routine into his week, and has gained 1 pound, leaving him with only 1 pound left! (routine: deadlifts, squats, flat bench presses, wide grip pull ups). T discovers the calorific wonders of protein smoothies and peanut butter, and tips his calorie intake past 3000, everyday of the week – leaving him with only 2 pounds left. Karen’s yo-yoing weight continues to shock us, shedding a killer 4 pounds this week by constantly changing her routines and pushing her boundaries.

Earn Your Wings. Mikey’s favourite day of the week – back! This is one of the largest muscle groups to train, making it perfect for gym-goers who are aiming to pile on mass. The Treadmill. Karen’s mouth-wateringly successful week has been largely due to this ‘500 Calorie Treadmill Workout’ she came across whilst searching on Pinterest. We creep steadily into week 6, and incredibly, the results are identical! As a regular gym-goer for the past few years, Mikey finds it hard to put on a full pound this week, and admits that in order to beat his goal he needs to push his parameters and up his game – in a way he hasn’t before! T continues to gain clean weight by mimicking Mikey’s compound workout. Karen smashes two pounds out of the park, with no intention of slowing down as she vows to beat her goal early! Now that’s dedication!

All contestants vowed to have beaten their goals by this week already, unfortunately, not a single pound has been achieved throughout – tough week! So as we culminate into the final stretch – expect blood, sweat (a lot) and tears, no-pain-no-gain mentality, and extremely vigilant usage of the calorie counter on Fitness Pal! They step off this weeks scale feeling only more determined. Make sure you tune in for the grand finale.

We are here. The finale. The epilogue of a short but very sweaty fitness journey.

Nervous laughter, the smell of fear, and apprehensive, fidgety movements colour the room. With only one more pound to surpass this week to reach their goals, they each step onto the scale to reveal the final results of 8 weeks’ worth of tenacious hard work and pain. Astonishingly, they each manage to tip over the edge of that last hurdle, that painfully stubborn last pound,  and achieve their goals!

Strength & Endurance Training. Yoga, a consistently undervalued and underestimated practice, is in fact – extremely intense! All the contestants got involved this week with a beginners class, and experienced an intensity and pain (good pain, let me clarify) like no other exercise! The instructor even joked: “Are those muscles real?!” towards Mikey, who was squealing and falling all over the place! This is because Yoga trains a very different kind of strength, it develops pure endurance, core power and flexibility. The contestants highly recommend that people of all ages and genders, to step out of their comfort zones and give Yoga a try. It’s also extremely fun! (Left Image) Karen warming up! Make That Kill. We culminate with a bang – a high-load circuit training for muscle gain and fat loss! This ultra-intense workout will supercharge the  hormonal system, particularly testosterone and growth hormone, the body’s two main anabolic (muscle-building) hormones.
